A Moment of Uncertainty

I’m really struggling today y’all. I had planned to write a post this weekend about January sales in my business—and I know that when I walk into work tomorrow morning, that topic will rocket right back to the top of my mind (so a post will follow, I’m sure). But right now, I feel almost too stunned to speak, and yet deeply compelled to say something.

I want to be very clear: as a student of our political system and our history, I am firmly pro-republic, pro-democracy, and pro-Constitution. I wholeheartedly believe in the American experiment. Being part of the proverbial “City on a Hill” is a core belief of mine.

Over the years, I’ve supported candidates from both political parties (see above re: the things that matter most to me). Politicians are human, and for me, the individual—their record, their beliefs, their actions—matters more than the party they represent. The state of political parties in this country is a whole other conversation, and far too big for a single blog post.

Current events have me questioning everything. I feel upside down—worried, confused, heartbroken, and generally at a loss. I want to shout from the rooftops and hide under the covers at the same time. It’s heavy. It’s hard.

So I guess this is the point: if you’re feeling this way too, you’re not alone.
